About Us

Our goal is to build the first truly regenerative and self-sustaining organic community.

Who we are

Patrick grew up in a rural area on a family farm. He witnessed major corporations taking over farming and hollowing out rural economies while implementing practices that degraded the landscape. He is passionate about restoring dignity to the farming profession and ensuring that stewards of the land can make a good living - without having to sell irreplaceable farmland to secure their retirement.

Karin worked on environmental issues for many years and concluded that poor transportation and land use planning cause many of the biggest problems we deal with, among them land fragmentation, air and water pollution, urban heat island effect, habitat loss, and more.

Together we envision new communities that empower farmers and restore local environments while providing food, climate stability, and a high quality of life to residents.

Philosophy

Our philosophy at Holocia goes far beyond bringing farms to urban populations. We are fundamentally reimagining how people live in relation to the natural world. We see the damage to our planet caused by urban sprawl and global industrialization, and the harm to people and ecosystems from the consolidation of food production into the hands of a few corporate giants. The supply chain disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic illustrated how fragile our food system really is. Holocia exists to provide residents with a high quality of life that includes food security, resilience to climate disruptions, a beautiful place to live, and better community.

Holistic Goal

We want:

  • stable individuals and families

  • living peaceful lives with prosperity and physical security,

  • free to pursue their own spiritual and religious beliefs,

  • with adequate nutritious food and clean water,

  • access to education

  • and enjoying good health,

  • in balanced lives with time for friends, family and community

  • and leisure for cultural and other pursuits

  • all to be ensured for many generations to come,

  • on a foundation of regenerating soils and biologically diverse community on earth’s lands, her rivers, lakes and oceans.

Our Values

  • Lean. We can no longer afford waste. Whether it is water, wood, or food, we must conserve and regenerate our natural resources. Lean practices are critical to providing clean places where residents want to live, while optimizing ecosystem services.

  • Learning. Climate adaptation is a constant learning process. We are building systems that enable us to learn and implement ongoing improvements, small or big, to improve life in our communities.

  • Living. Personal growth is at the heart of all things. Whether it is a superior lifestyle for your family, the learning we undertake as a team, or the festivals that we participate in with our fellow residents, Nature Towns are designed to bring equity and quality of life to all residents.

We honor the ancestral lands of our ancestors, the Tonkwa Jumanos of Central Texas.
